Short Film Proposal

Proposal  Brief plot of story A girl is seen leaving a social event, late at night, dressed up and begins to walk towards the train station to travel home. The surroundings are dark and quiet as she walks, with little to no one around.  We cut to a new viewpoint of someone watching the girl as she walks down the dim-light road, no face is shown, just their viewpoint. This continues until she arrives at the empty train station, getting on to the last train.   The girl gets on the train, with a shot of someone else viewpoint as she walks on. Still no face of the person shown. This continues as the girl walks down the carriage and finds a seat. The train announcement plays over the speaker as she brings out her phone and begins to play music through her headphones. The titles play and after the scene continues.    The girl is shown texting her mum or friend to let them know where she is and when she will be home. This is little to no sound throughout, with the...

Narrative Ideas

Brainstorm of narrative ideas  - Party gone wrong - comedy - Stalker's life - thriller - Unexpected neighbour - serial killer - thriller - Girl being followed home/stalked - thriller Main idea - My idea for my short film is in the theme of a thriller and creating suspense with the camera rather than the dialogue. The film will focus on a girl leaving a party or some sort of social event and being followed home by a stalker. I want to incorporate both the girl’s view and the stalker’s view with various camera shots, for example, a shot of the girl walking down the street either in 3 rd  person or in 1 st  person and then cutting to a shot of the stalker’s view of her walking down the street, creating two-viewpoints throughout the film and different reactions to the situation.    I had this idea for my film after seeing multiple cases of stalkers and kidnapping of women in the news in public places, like the Sarah Everard case. Using this, I want to include p...

Target Audience

PG15 -  may have fairly mature themes. May contain strong language, strong violence, strong sex references, nudity without graphic detail and hard drugs. Sexual activity may be portrayed but without any strong detail. Sexual violence may be shown if discreet and justified by context. Use of very strong language may be permitted based on frequency and how it is used, as well as contextual justification. Relevant in my film  - Sexual violence and sexual threat - there may be strong verbal reference to sexual violence, but any depiction of the stronger forms of sexual violence, including rape, must not be detailed or prolonged. A strong sustained focus on sexual threat is unacceptable. - Language - There may be strong language. Very strong language may be permitted depending on the manner in which it is used, its frequency within the work as a whole and and special contextual justification - Dangerous behaviour - Dangerous behaviour should not dwell on detail which could be co...

In trying to hide his secret, Connor tells Lola he is 'training', but instead we see him dressing up and wearing makeup. However, this moment is again interrupted by Archie being chased and beaten up. Connor hesitates to help as it will reveals his secret, however he does and Archie finds out his secret. Over - John Threlfall

Over (2015) is film that follows a crime scene, based on a true life event in a small neighbourhood, however, does so in reverse chronological order. The film begins with a slow shot of a quiet residential road in the late evening, shown by time stamps in the bottom left hand corner. The next shot jumps to the next evening with a couple returning from a day out, with a woman seeing a bunch of flowers and note of the kerb by her house, this leads us to believe that a accident has occurred. Continuing on, we cut to what seems to be a cleaner cleaning blood off the road. The next shots contain a man lying dead on the road, with shots of the evidence collection and later the police turning up to corner of the crime scene. The film contains many long shots and minimal sound, creating a mysterious feel and element of pure tragedy. Throughout the film, we are left wondering how the man ended up there, an attack or a fight, the audience does not find until the shocking last shot of the film, a...

Echo - Lewis Arnold

Echo Echo follows the story of a 17 year old girl, Caroline, who in the beginning of the short receives a phone call that breaks the news that her dad has been involved in a motorbike accident. Her reaction to this news is followed with the passers-by coming to help calm her in this distress, however, an unexpected change occurs a few moment after Caroline leaves the stranger, revealing that there is more to this call than first appears. Her calls are shown to be fake and a re-enactment of a previous situation after finding out the death of her father. Multiple calls are shown throughout the short, showing different reaction for strangers, to those who help and those who work out the deceit. The short investigates the different reaction to death of loved one and explores the lasting effect of the death of her father had on this family. The plot shows and feeds us important information while leaving certain details empty allowing us to form our own ideas on Caroline's story, and our...
