Short Film Proposal

Proposal  Brief plot of story A girl is seen leaving a social event, late at night, dressed up and begins to walk towards the train station to travel home. The surroundings are dark and quiet as she walks, with little to no one around.  We cut to a new viewpoint of someone watching the girl as she walks down the dim-light road, no face is shown, just their viewpoint. This continues until she arrives at the empty train station, getting on to the last train.   The girl gets on the train, with a shot of someone else viewpoint as she walks on. Still no face of the person shown. This continues as the girl walks down the carriage and finds a seat. The train announcement plays over the speaker as she brings out her phone and begins to play music through her headphones. The titles play and after the scene continues.    The girl is shown texting her mum or friend to let them know where she is and when she will be home. This is little to no sound throughout, with the distant sound of her music a

Narrative Ideas

Brainstorm of narrative ideas  - Party gone wrong - comedy - Stalker's life - thriller - Unexpected neighbour - serial killer - thriller - Girl being followed home/stalked - thriller Main idea - My idea for my short film is in the theme of a thriller and creating suspense with the camera rather than the dialogue. The film will focus on a girl leaving a party or some sort of social event and being followed home by a stalker. I want to incorporate both the girl’s view and the stalker’s view with various camera shots, for example, a shot of the girl walking down the street either in 3 rd  person or in 1 st  person and then cutting to a shot of the stalker’s view of her walking down the street, creating two-viewpoints throughout the film and different reactions to the situation.    I had this idea for my film after seeing multiple cases of stalkers and kidnapping of women in the news in public places, like the Sarah Everard case. Using this, I want to include public transport as part o

Target Audience

PG15 -  may have fairly mature themes. May contain strong language, strong violence, strong sex references, nudity without graphic detail and hard drugs. Sexual activity may be portrayed but without any strong detail. Sexual violence may be shown if discreet and justified by context. Use of very strong language may be permitted based on frequency and how it is used, as well as contextual justification. Relevant in my film  - Sexual violence and sexual threat - there may be strong verbal reference to sexual violence, but any depiction of the stronger forms of sexual violence, including rape, must not be detailed or prolonged. A strong sustained focus on sexual threat is unacceptable. - Language - There may be strong language. Very strong language may be permitted depending on the manner in which it is used, its frequency within the work as a whole and and special contextual justification - Dangerous behaviour - Dangerous behaviour should not dwell on detail which could be copied.
